This website, Cinefest Malaysia (cinefestmalaysia.com), is operated by Cinefest Standard Sdn Bhd (“we”, “us”, “our”). We are committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) of Malaysia.

What personal data we collect

We collect personal data that you voluntarily provide through our forms, including:

The Grand Stage entries: name, age, city/state, phone number, email and a link to your audition video.
Film Festival submissions: your name and contact email, plus details of the submitted work and a screener link.
Artist registry applications: name, stage name, role, email, phone, location, biography, credits and portfolio links.

We also collect limited technical data (such as IP address and browser type) and website usage statistics through analytics tools.

Why we use your data

To receive, review and respond to your competition entries, submissions and applications.
To contact you about your entry or your participation in our events.
To publish approved artist profiles in our public talent registry (only with your explicit consent and after committee approval).
To operate, secure and improve our website.

Consent and legal basis

We process your personal data on the basis of the consent you give when you tick the consent box on our forms. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us, though this may mean we can no longer process your entry or maintain your profile.

Disclosure

Your personal data is reviewed by the Cinefest Malaysia organising committee. We do not sell your personal data. We may share it with service providers who help us run our events and website, and where required by law.

Public artist profiles

Artist registry profiles are published publicly only after you give explicit consent and the committee approves your application. You can ask us to unpublish or remove your profile at any time.

Data retention

We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes above, or as required by law, after which it is securely deleted.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and analytics services (such as Google Analytics and site statistics) to understand how visitors use our website. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Your rights under the PDPA

You have the right to request access to and correction of your personal data, to limit its processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, email admin@cinefestmalaysia.com.
